Xixa e Seu Conjunto Cavaquinho no Samba (1971)

Premier PRLP 1197

Cavaquinho player Xixa, for the first time in this parallel reality, together with his cavaquinho and conjunto.

As you could have expected, there is not much I can tell you about Xixa. Also the back cover is the same as the front cover and there are no linear notes to point you to.

All I know is that, according to Memoria Musical, he has recorded altogether 4 career albums + one album classified as an "extra project".

Of course, the track list is complete, available and it goes like this:

01. Praça Onze (Herivelto Martins / Grande Otelo)

Antonio Neto - Sambas de Hoje (1964)

Chantecler CMG 2289

Edson Mendes just sent me the only (?) career album by Antônio Neto who was recently presented singing two songs on Orquestra Os Modernistas's Baile Moderno.

Now, on Sambas de Hoje he is singing on all tracks "in a very old fashioned way", as Edson remarked, accompanied by the Orquestra Os Modernistas .

Arrangements are by Francisco (Chiquinho) de Moraes, Waldemiro Lemke and Expedito de Carvalho.

The songs:

01. Minha Declaração (Moacir Braga / Antônio Rago)

The Explosive Orchestra (N/D)

The Expolosive Orchestra for the first time on Parallel Realities.

Regardless if you are scratching your head engulfed in dilemmas about who, when, what or why, I will not direct you to the linear notes, which are full of "Who has not heard the popular song ...?" and similar, explaining only why the text is unsigned.

I will redirect you to the  FICHA TECHNICA fine print at the bottom of the page instead, which clearly states that the Maestro is Astor Silva and that the musical direction is by Moacyr Silva.

The names of the musicians performing these compositions is, so far, a mystery:

01. You Only Live Twice (John Barry / Leslie Bricusse)
02. Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Bob Crewe / Bob Gaudio)
03. Release Me (Eddie Miller / W. S. Stevenson)
04. Groovin (F. Cavalieri / E. Grigati)

Pereira Filho e Seu Conjunto - Um Violao em Ritmo de Danca (1959)

Todamérica LPP-TA-327

About violão player Pereira Filho, presented tonight for the first time on Parallel Realities with his only career album, I can not tell you much except that he has recorded also at least six 78 rpms in the period from 1933 - 1959 and even if I could tell you more, there is no possibility for me to do it better than Alberto Rego, the writer of the liner notes, has done it...

By now, it should be crystal clear that the above text is meant as an encouragement for reading Alberto's text and listening to:

Jair Pimentel e Sua Bossa em Chorinhos e Boleros (1966)

Mocambo LP 40292

Clarinet, sax and flute player Jair Pimentel, presented already with his first Lp (a 10') on Parallel Realities, arrives tonight with his third career album (out of four, if my information gathered from the net is correct).

About his life and career I strongly advise you to update your knowledge from the back cover text, written by Marcelo Santos, rather than to wait that I retell all parts I (miss)understood, as it is, as you have probably guessed, written in Portuguese.

I will just inform you that the arrangements and direction of the compositions listed below and mostly composed by Jair himself, have been done by maestro Nelson Ferreira:

Mirian Presley e seu piano (1958)

Discos Drink LPP-DF-13.002

However incredible it might be, Djalma Ferreira's Discos Drink, has featured mainly Djalma Ferreira. Out of 11 releases by this company only four have a non-Djalma prinicpal artist:
Two Araken Peixoto Lps out of which one is still to be found in this parallel reality, another Lp by a certain Lauro Miranda and finally this one by piano player Mirian Presley, presented as I write.

Although probable, I can not officially confirm that musicians of the Milionarios do Ritmo are playing alongside Mirian on:

01. Uma Noite no Drink (João Leal Brito "Britinho")
02. Samba Que Eu Quero Ver (Djalma Ferreira)
03. Favela (Roberto Martins / Waldemar Silva)
04. Arrivederci Roma (Renato Rascel / Pietro Garinei / Sandro Giovannini)
05. Three Coins In The Fountain (Sammy Cahn / Jule Styne)
06. Sou Baiana (Luis Bittencourt / Tuiu)
07. Cabecinha No Ombro (Paulo Borges)
08. Stella By Starlight (Ned Washington / Victor Young)
09. Choro na Gafieira (João Leal Brito "Britinho")
10. Laura (João de Barro / Alcyr Pires Vermelho)

DISCOS DRINK

WHO IS MIRIAN? by Frank-Oliver:
The name Mirian Presley is a pseudonym. Even the advertisement in a 1959 Brazilian newspaper mentioned that this is a well known piano player under a pseudonym. In later reviews, many writers say, that it is Djalma Ferrreira himself. But if it is Djalma himself, there is no reason for a pseudonym, because this is Djalma's own record label.
A mystery.

THE NET AS FOUNTAIN OF FACTS by Pedro:
Вooker Рittman + Sax Soprano = Sucesso (1965)

Musidisс Нi-Fi 2118

Several days ago, while posting Eliana e Booker Pittman, I lamented about loosing my copy of this Booker Pittman album released in 1965 and originally presented some two and a half years ago in another reality, due to a corrupt backup DVD. Well, I just found the album in the newest package received from Pedro & 300discos and decided to reprint the complete post, instead of just repairing the link in the other reality.

So here it is:

Eliana e Booker Pitman (1962)

Mocambo LP 40083

To complete Booker Pittman's career albums in this parallel reality, I have decided to re-post here also his Lp with Eliana Pittman from 1962 which I originally found on Loronix a long time ago.

Zeca's text about it you may find, as expected, on Órfãos do Loronix, but, if you try to find Booker Pittman's Sucesso from 1965, although you will find it in another reality, together with all his other albums, you will notice that it is the only one with the link not working anymore. I wanted to re-new it, but I could not open my back-up DVD as it got corrupted somehow.
If someone has downloaded it previously, I would appreciate if he would send it to me.

Francisco Moraes e Sua Orquestra - As Melhores do Ano (1964)

Chantecler CMG 2258

"What are you writing, Daddy?" starts the background cover text in form of a conversation written by Jair Thaumaturgo.

Of course, Jair, caught red handed while writing linear notes, answers the question made by his daughter and during further dialogue, explains all she and we might want to know about this recording and also writes down her remarks...

However cute it all might be, the recommended way to determine the content of this album by maestro Francisco Moraes is to get the Lp and listen to:

01. Lawrence Of Arabia (Maurice Jarre)
02. Sonhar Contigo (Adilson Ramos / Armelindo Leandro)
03. Blame It On The Bossa Nova (Cynthia Weil / Barry Mann)
04. Legata A Un Granello Di Sabbia (Fermo Dante Marchetti / Nico Fidenco)
05. Tudo de Mim (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
06. Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
07. Ti Guarderó Nel Cuore (Nino Oliviero / Riz Ortolani / Marcello Ciorciolini)
08. Esta Noite Eu Queria Que O Mundo Acabasse (Silvio Lima)
09. Chariot (J. W. Stole / Jacques Plante / Del Roma)
10. Quando, Quando, Quando (Tony Renis / Alberto Testa)
11. O Problema do Amor (Jair Gonçalves / Carlos Gonzaga)

Turma da Bossa - Sambas de Bossa Nova (1959)

Musidisc Hi-Fi 2023

About Turma da Bossa I know only that this is probably their only album and that there is another band with the same name who has released in 2000 a CD with a recording of their live performance at Tom's Bar.

As expected, the linear notes by Sebastião Fonseca are without any information about the Turma at all, explaining their music and the compositions performed with a prominent quantity of words instead.

So, at the moment there is only one path to take to find out more:
The path of simply listening to:

01. Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02. Lamento (Djalma Ferreira / Luis Antônio)
03. Vai, Mas Vai Mesmo (Ataulfo Alves)
04. Não Vou Pra Brasília (Billy Blanco)
05. Mocinho Bonito (Billy Blanco)
06. É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
07. Se Acaso Você Chegasse (Lupicínio Rodrigues / Felisberto Martins)
08. Recado (Djalma Ferreira / Luis Antônio)
09. Barracão (Luis Antônio / Oldemar Magalhães)
10. Com Que Roupa (Noel Rosa)

Sexteto Prestige - Musica e Festa (1958)

Prestige DLP 1001

This album was presented on Loronix for the first time, then much later re-posted on Parallel Realities and now it is posted once more, this time in form of a Pedro transfer.

To make a connection with the previously posted Sexteto Guanabara i will just point out a few facts:

Sexteto Prestige recorded under the name of Sexteto Prestige for Prestige from 1958 to 1960, this one posted tonight, being, if I am correct, the first album to be released by Prestige which was founded the same year.

After mysteriously disappearing into thin air without even disclosing their names, another mysterious sextet, the Sexteto Guanabara, started recording for Musiplay in 1962 and recorded the 3 Sorvete albums, the last being released in 1963.

The concept of both sextets is very similar, recording medleys with undisclosed musicians.

Like these:

1. Le Gondolier (Peter de Angelis / J. Broussole)
Cuando Tu Me Quieras (Raul Shaw Moreno / Mário Barrios)
Sonhando Contigo (Anísio Silva / Fausto Guimarães)
My Prayer (Mi Oración) (Georges Boulanger)

2. Eu Quero Um Samba (Haroldo Barbosa / Janet de Almeida)
    Faceira (Ary Barroso)
Sonho e Fantasia (João Leal Brito ''Britinho'')
Sal e Pimenta (Nazareno de Brito / Newton Ramalho)

3. A Saudade Mata A Gente (João de Barro / Antônio Almeida)
    Cabecinha No Ombro (Paulo Borges)
A Grande Verdade (Luis Bittencourt / Marlene)
    Mocinho Bonito (Billy Blanco)

4. Interesseira (Bidú Reis / Murillo Latini)
    Apaixonada (Lourival Faissal)
Por Causa de Você (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
    Perfidia (Alberto Dominguez)
